Urizen

A heart of toil a pang of pain
A barren mind locked down and slain
Freedom freedom the shackles cry
Echoes rise tearing down the sky
Servants of the light oh gods of high
Protect the flame lest it should die
Guard the treasure you swore to keep
From prowling eyes that do not sleep
But the gods are dumb and deep asleep
Their bellies filled with blood of sheep
The shadows creeped into their brain
Blackness covered their petty reign
But if heaven is deaf and shall not wake
Earth shall call down to the Snake
Arise. Awake. And do not fail
Pierce the thickness of the veil
A mighty stir and a flaming tail
An electric boom and a roaring hail
A word unformed in pregnant earth
Shoots a spear for a novel birth
A warm blue jay in a sea of mirth
Sings new rhymes exulting earth
A river of life of heavenly make
A pillar of light that nothing can break

From The Red Book by C.G. Jung

Now

Why am I here? You’re here to play.
What is the purpose? To have some fun.
Why do I suffer? Because you’re serious.
Who am I? It doesn’t matter.

What is life? It is a dream.
What is death? It’s waking up.
Will I remember my dream? Probably not.

What is war? A serious game.
What is religion? It’s not to play.
What is politics? A boring toy.

What is happiness? It is your heart.
What is wisdom? It’s to let go.
What is love? Getting carried away.
What is knowledge? That all is empty.

Who is Krishna? An exciting friend.
Who is Buddha? A pleasant companion.
Who is Jesus? A crazy lover.

What is a man? He is purely being.
What is a woman? She is intelligence.
What is making love? It’s the divine union.

What is earth? A precious mother.
What is the universe? A loving father.
What is nature? A lovely sister.
What is the body? A dearest brother.

Satori

With heavy steps, he dragged his feet,
As his chest gasped, a dry creek,
A proud ascetic, with a crooked form,
A lifeless corpse, snapped in the storm.

A vain pursuit, a lifelong dream,
Dimmed his light, a dingy gleam,
A city barraged, behind a purpose,
A heart so dull, devoid and senseless.

There she stood, like a little girl,
Shining on him, eyes like a pearl,
Innocent, shy, and vulnerable,
A flower so strong, unbreakable.

A movement of Life, a flood of Grace,
Drowned his throat, and pierced the space,
It felt like poison, in the frail man’s vein,
Drilling through his being, nowhere to drain.

The more he struggled, the more It urged,
The more he pushed, the more It forced,
The more he resisted, the more It scorched,
His walls collapsed, his city was exposed.

A new light raced down his chest,
Towards his heart where it longed to rest,
Joy penetrated his every sense,
She lived in him thereon hence.

Iridescence

Out of anguish and despair,
Hopeless, beyond repair,
A shadow of a man, darkness,
Lingered in the night, moonless.

Restless, years passed by,
Bound, cannot fly,
Memories, lost force,
Affliction clawing, no remorse.

From the abyss, a play of light,
From confusion, a breeze of insight,
From drought, an anointing grace,
From death, a reviving embrace.

An eagle was born, he spread his wings,
A mountain he stood, royal like kings,
A lion, a child, a divine zen,
An angel he walked, among men.

Midnight

It poured,
Molten fire, essence of fear,
A warrior lashing on,
Shivering and tears.

It closed its jaws,
No escape,
A predator grabbing on,
Confusion and fear.

A silence, a serenity, a mighty hand subdued,
The fire was quenched,
A mystic, a watcher, a living strength imbued,
The beast was tamed.

To run with lions, to know no fear,
To be like a child, that leaps like a deer.

She

Dazzling, she shines unrestrained,
Breathtaking, her ecstasy cannot be contained,
Playful, she flows in her lover,
Motherly, her arms’ embrace.

Thundering, her touch does not spare,
Fiery, resistance she scorches without a care,
Vibrant, her activity knows no rest,
Persistent, she cannot be defeated.

She strengthens, she elevates,
She breaths life,
She caresses, she flirts,
Devoted as a wife.

Love are her rose feet,
Wisdom is her dahlia heart,
Innocence is her lily smile,
Shyness is her daisy presence.

Unseen, unfelt, she provides and she ordains,
Unheard, unclasped, forever elusive,
Unbiased, untouched, she knows no stains,
Irresistible, unequaled, eternally transcendent.

Ouverture

Now that we’ve got the “About Me” covered, it is time to start composing.

In the course of this opera, you’ll meet our courageous hero, on a noble quest to a mysterious end, slaying dragons and fighting mythical creatures, stumbling here and there, never yielding. And as is the case with most stories of this genre, our valiant hero starts from humble origins, but is destined for greatness. This metamorphosis is brought through by fire, and by hammer blows, forging him into manhood.

As for you, passerby, you might be wondering why I chose recounting our hero’s story as an opera, instead of for example sticking to a plain WordPress blog as people nowadays do. In an opera, music and libretto are weaved together in a single harmony, with music unveiling what words fail to convey. In a similar manner, words blend with the music of the heart, revealing harmony or dissonance. That being said, I’ll try to situate this unknown hero on the multidimensional cosmic map.

In the physical realm, he occupies a measurable amount of volume and mass, at non relativistic velocities of course, with the number 9 curiously recurring in his measurements¹. He is a carbon based life form which functions with little maintenance, relying on ingesting other carbon based life forms for energy. Despite being composed of 60% liquid water, he is solidly built. He has a low center of gravity, giving him enhanced agility and increased stability with respect to bigger opponents. Overall, he is symmetrical and well proportioned.

In the mental realm, he dwells in the land of dreams, limitless and unobstructed, yet shrouded by an impenetrable mist. There, he raised a castle on the mountain of hopes where he makes his abode. At the heart of his home is a great fire, burning day and night – the passion for what is “True” and “Beautiful”. The great fire is englobed by the chamber of creative imagination, and itself englobed by the chamber of logical reasoning, where he sits, observant of the physical realm, analytical of it and judging. Surrounding the house is the garden of intellection, fragrant, colourful, and delightful, nourished by the gentle flow of the pure and crystalline spring of knowledge. The whole realm vibrates with a breathtaking symphony.

In the spiritual realm… Neither seeing, nor hearing, nor smelling, nor touching, nor tasting. Neither dreaming, nor thinking, nor hoping. He might even be mistaken for nothingness. Yet, Wisdom needs no tangible channels to reveal its Truth, and hence his truth, whence he is derived. In this realm, he is pure being, pure life, pure ecstasy, and forever longing. All he knows, is that this realm is dark and mysterious, and does not obey physical nor mental laws.

Now comes the concluding fortissimo coda. This blog is about everything and nothing. Thoughts. Echoes. Witty musings… chaotic, playful, futile, insignificant, amusing…
